Greetings!
While 2020 has brought many challenges, our team in Malawi is persevering through the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring our health and medical programming continues in a safe and comprehensive manner. We celebrate the achievements of our programs in Malawi while acknowledging all that we have collectively endured this difficult year.
In this holiday season, we are so grateful for our supporters, partners, donors, patients, and community. Zikomo! (Thank you!)
We are about halfway to our goal of raising $25,000 by December 31, 2020 to sustain surgeries and training in 2021. Donate before the end of 2020 to double your donation through a donor-funded $5,000 match, or contact us to set up monthly recurring donations in the new year!
PATIENT SPOTLIGHT: David
David, a 10-year-old boy with neurofibromatosis, came to our 2019 Surgical Camp screening. He was struggling in school due to a large tumor obstructing his left eye. He could not be treated at a rural hospital like Kabudula, and he needed special diagnostic services. We took David on as our patient, and coordinated his care, with CT scans showing he would need multiple surgeries to restore vision. We funded his first operation in September 2020, and his second procedure at the end of November 2020. He will soon have his third and final procedure to fully open his eye and restore full vision!
FUNDRAISER: Mask Up for a Cause!
For each mask purchased, Malawian tailor Takondwa will make TWO masks which are distributed to patients and their families. Helping prevent COVID-19 among vulnerable populations in Malawi couldn’t be easier!
FROM $15.00
In addition to masks, we have a limited stock of handmade treasures straight from Malawi that will make great stocking stuffers, and will brighten up your home.
