Since 2024, Mwayi has served as Country Manager for AHA, where she represents the organization; provides in-country leadership for the team; and oversees programs, operations, human resource, and financial management. She also plays a role in serving as liaison with local authorities, donors, media, and other stakeholders to allow AHA’s patient-centered programs to run smoothly and effectively.
Before being promoted to Country Manger, Mwayi served as AHA’s Administrative Assistant from 2022-2024. As Administrative Assistant, she managed the organization’s operations including office management, human resources, administrative duties, programmatic support, and specific communications tasks.
Prior to joining AHA, Mwayi worked with the government of Malawi for six years in the ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, Water, and Sanitation. Her time was spent working with the community villages helping farmers from all different households improve their livelihoods through the adoption of new farming technologies and other farming practices in crop production, animal production, group management (group dynamics), leadership skills, and mainstreaming gender equality and HIV/AIDS.
In 2011, Mwayi joined The Hunger Project Malawi where her main role was to coordinate maternal health activities at the district level including the under five clinics, HIV/AIDS, women empowerment, livelihoods, and managing the district team and office operations. Mwayi also facilitated the launch of a new project that constructed a new community resource center and a maternity health center.
