Access Health Africa was shattered to learn of the passing of Mr. William Mtonga, a beloved father and husband. Mr. Mtonga was husband of Nurse Christina, who together worked with AHA and partner WAM to ensure many patients with difficult diagnoses that requiring referrals to specialists received high quality care.
Mr. Mtonga was born 22 December 1972 in Nkhoma, Lilongwe, Malawi, and passed away 14 September 2021 at Ntchisi District Hospital.
Mr. Mtonga attended primary school in Ntchisi, secondary school at William Murray Secondary School in Nkhoma, tertiary education at Malamulo College where he earned his diploma, and finally attended Mzuzu University where he earned his degree in Health Sciences and Orthopedics.
Most recently, Mr. Mtonga worked for Malawi’s Ministry of Health as a TB coordinator for Lilongwe district. Through his work, he travelled across Malawi working to end TB.
Mr. Mtonga’s hobbies included watching TV (mainly the news and wild animals), reading the paper, and talking to friends and family on social media.
Mr. Mtonga is survived by his wife Christina and their two daughters.
